Abstract
In this section of the course, we explore what the Water-Specific Therapy (WST) approach looks like in practice. The notes begin by describing the essential characteristics of WST: its structure, its therapeutic intentions, and the fundamental principles that guide intervention in the aquatic environment.
We then move on to consider whether WST is suitable for use in pediatric settings. This includes examining how its methods align with the developmental needs, learning styles, and therapeutic goals of children. The discussion highlights both the opportunities and the challenges of applying WST with younger populations.
Finally, the material addresses the question of evidence. We review whether scientific research supports the use of WST in pediatrics, looking at existing studies, reported outcomes, and the current state of the literature. This section helps participants understand not only what WST is and where it can be applied, but also how strongly it is supported by empirical data.
