Abstract

This study explores the roots and evolution of pan-Arabism in Syria, with special attention to the Baaz Party and al-Assad¿s regime. It also examines the ideological conflict between pan-Arabism and Islamism, especially during the Syrian civil war. The collapse of the regime in 2024 marked the end of an ideology, and the rise of groups such as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham highlights a shift towards Islamism. This paper reflects on the future of Arab identity in a fragmented Syria.
