O teatro e o cinema mudo a partir da sua matéria: figurinos e figurinistas em trânsito

Abstract

In this article, we focus our attention on a specific period in Portuguese cinema, silent cinema (1896 - 1929),trying, for the first time, to cross-reference new sources from which to draw information in an attempt to deepen a storyabout the object of study “film costumes”.To this end, we propose a broadening of potentially useful sources, crossingTheatre Studies and Costume Studies with some of the first moving images of cinema in Portugal, articles andphotographs from the press of the time and life stories of theatre artists published in the form of biographies.
