DESIGNING TWO SPACES FOR THE FIRST CYCLE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Abstract

This project aims to develop two spaces for children aged 0 to 3, where groups are formed by children of mixed ages, taking a fresh approach to the layout. Before designing the spaces, research was performed to understand the development and needs of children in this age range, as well as how they conquer autonomy. In addition, detailed information supported by other authors was provided concerning the characteristics a space should have, as well as the movement devices, the toys that should be provided, and the qualities that outdoor spaces should possess. In light of the research findings, the designs were proposed, aiming to address shortcomings observed in current educational spaces. As the main conclusion, it is thought that the investigation of how to implement these ideas in the second cycle of Pre-primary Education should be done.
