ISLAMIC FEMINISM IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PLURAL FEMINISM: DIALOGUES, TENSIONS, AND COLLABORATIONS

Abstract

This paper analyses the role of Islamic feminism in the construction of a plural and global feminism that integrates religious and cultural perspectives. The paper examines the movement's local and international strategies, highlighting collaborations and tensions with other feminist currents, social organisations and state and international actors. Furthermore, it addresses the movement's progress and challenges, taking as a reference the case of Tunisia and its 2014 constitutional process.
