Ítem Effect of strain rate on tensile fracture behavior of notched polyamide 12 processed by selective laser sintering(Elsevier, 2022-06-16) Gómez-del Río, T.; Crespo, M.; López, R.; Rodríguez, J.In this work, the applicability of the Theory of Critical Distances to the study of failure at high-loadings rates of polyamide 12 notched specimens additively manufactured by selective laser sintering, is evaluated. An experimental and numerical study has been carried out and values of modulus of elasticity, tensile strength and fracture toughness have been obtained. under static and dynamic conditions. The effect of orientation has also been analyzed, testing samples parallel and perpendicular to the layers of material deposited.Ítem Failure of polyamide 12 notched samples manufactured by selective laser sintering(SAGE, 2019-03-29) Crespo, M.; Gómez del-Río, T.; Rodríguez, J.Fracture resistance of polyamide 12 was measured with tensile tests on notched specimens with different notch tip radii. The specimens were processed by additive manufacturing techniques, and the tests were carried out in two different orientations to evaluate the potential anisotropy of the material. Finite element analysis was performed to know the stress state of the whole specimen. Then, the failure of the specimens was described using the theory of critical distances. The influence of possible manufacturing defects in the material was incorporated using a probabilistic approach, associated with a Weibull distribution. A fractographic analysis of the post-mortem specimens allowed to identify those mechanisms responsible for the material failure in each orientation.
