Ítem DESIGN OF AN ONLINE PLATFORM FOR THE COGNITIVE REHABILITATION OF PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA THROUGH INTEGRATION OF SERIOUS GAMES AND VIRTUAL REALITY(Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, 2024-07-22) Fuentes Ascorve, RebeccaDementia is a general term used to describe a set of diseases where memory loss, confusion and language problems are the main symptoms. Whilst some medication is available for the management of these symptoms, there is currently no cure for dementia. The rise in technology has become instrumental for the diagnosis and rehabilitation of patients suffering from this condition, permitting a more personalised treatment plan. The objective of the proposed End of Degree Project is to develop and create an online platform that allows the incorporation of serious games for the cognitive rehabilitation of patients with dementia. The games will enable the use of Virtual Reality and include features that permit personalized adaptations. Such platform aims to give remote access to therapy for patients as well as visualisation tools for easy interpretation of collected data for the medical professionals. To complete the project, a thorough revision of the current state of the art was performed and many different tools such as Django, A-Frame and JavaScript were used for creation of an effective and interactive platform. At the time of completion of the project, the platform and system architecture were elaborated allowing for the saving and sending of relevant data as well as a solid doctor and patient software relationship. Moreover, two serious games were developed and incorporated to the platform. The proposed objectives were completed, and the platform allows room for future developments and the incorporation of more serious games.
