Ítem A bibliometric analysis of greenwashing research: a closer look at agriculture, food industry and food retail(Emerald, 2021) Montero-Navarro, Antonio; González-Torres, Thais; Rodríguez-Sánchez, José-Luis; Gallego-Losada, RocíoPurpose – This paper aims at providing an overview and synthesis of the existing body of knowledge about greenwashing. Special attention is paid to the articles directly linked with agriculture, food industry and food retail. Design/methodology/approach – A bibliometric analysis was performed over 351 documents extracted from the WoS database, using SciMAT and VOSviewer software programs. Findings – Three periods in the academic literature about greenwashing can be distinguished: ground-setting (2003–2010), trail-blazing (2011–2015) and remarkable growth (2016–2020). Along this evolution, a body of knowledge which stemmed from the literature about CSR has achieved a major development, deploying different research lines such as stakeholders’ management, marketing and communication and audit.Aspecific analysis of the academic literature about greenwashing in agriculture, food industry and food retail has been carried out, showing a need for further development. Social implications – The development of scientific knowledge about greenwashing puts this social claim on the spotlight of business management studies, helping to fight greenwashing and, this way, to reduce the environmental impact of corporate activities. Studying greenwashing will help to reduce its frequency and, therefore, heal the planet. Originality/value – Some previous studies have provided systematic reviews of the literature using different approaches, but they did not untangle the intellectual structure and the evolution of the body of research about greenwashing. This article originally provides a thorough analysis of these aspects, as well as a closer look at the impact of greenwashing practices in the academic literature regarding agriculture, food industry and food retail.Ítem A systematic review of research on sustainability in mergers and acquisitions(MDPI, 2020-01-09) González-Torres, Thais; Rodríguez-Sánchez, José-Luis; Pelechano-Barahona, Eva; García-Muiña, FernandoThe field of mergers and acquisitions and sustainability has been expanding in the last years; consequently, there is a need for a systematic review of the existing body of knowledge. This article aims to fill this gap by providing an overview and synthesis of the research topic. The specific objectives are (1) to assess the academic impact, and (2) to determine the structure of the topic. To achieve these goals, a bibliometric analysis will be carried out through a selection of articles taken from the WoS database from 1900 to 2019. First, the historical evolution of publications will be addressed, the distribution of articles by journal and by individual author, as well as the total number of citations per article. Second, this article will develop networks of co-citations of authors and journals and co-word analysis by using VOS Viewer software. The global results will provide insights into the nature and trends of research on mergers and acquisitions and sustainability.Ítem Contemporary leadership in hospitality: a review and research agenda(Emerald, 2022) Huertas-Valdivia, Irene; González-Torres, Thais; Nájera Sánchez, Juan JoséPurpose. This paper provides a comprehensive, structured, objective bibliometric review of the main leadership styles investigated in the hospitality industry from 1977 to 2021 (September) and depicts this field’s conceptual structure. Methodology. Bibliometric analysis techniques such as bibliographic coupling were employed using several software applications (VOSviewer, BibExcel, and Pajek, among others) to identify trends and research gaps in this literature. The paper provides an overview of the evolution of research activity on different leadership styles that yields important insights into research trends, most-researched themes, main authors, and key journals. Findings. A total of 287 publications on leadership from the Web of Science and Scopus databases were summarized. The number of studies on leadership has been growing since 2013, evincing persistent interest in the topic. Eleven main streams of leadership research in the hospitality literature were detected and characterized, with transformational and servant leadership emerging as the most common approaches. Possible evolution of the topics and future research lines were also identified. Implications. The findings can guide practitioners and scholars to further explore and implement emerging leadership styles in the hospitality sector. The paper also presents future research avenues to advance the field of leadership. Originality. The current review provides a valuable framework for examining key leadership styles, understanding the most-researched styles, and illustrating leadership's critical role in organizational and individual outcomes in hospitality businesses.Ítem Exploring the knowledge structure of entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention(Springer, 2022) Nájera-Sánchez, Juan-José; Pérez-Pérez, Cristina; González-Torres, ThaisThe literature has widely recognized entrepreneurial intention as the best variable for predicting entrepreneurial behaviour. Entrepreneurial education represents a possible way to foster that intention. The interest in stimulating entrepreneurship activity has led to a growth in the number and disparity of publications that analyse the entrepreneurship education-entrepreneurial intention. This paper carries out a bibliometric analysis using bibliographic coupling to map the field’s knowledge structure. This study’s results contribute to the field complementing the previous literature reviews by addressing and verifying the development of the research lines proposed by them. Our approach is methodologically original, analysing the clusters in the network, including a characterization of each of them and the most significant and representative cited references for each group. Among the main conclusions, we find that although the theoretical base of most of the studies is found in classic theories, some alternative approaches dealing with emotional variables, mentality approaches, or psychological traits are more frequent in recent years and can play an important role in the future of the field, as the factors related to the intention-tobehaviour transition are a central focus of current research. Additionally, the contradictory results in past studies have focused the new developments around the influence of contextual factors that constitute an essential new direction for this research.Ítem Investing Time and Resources for Work–Life Balance: The Effect on Talent Retention(MDPI, 2020) Rodríguez-Sánchez, José-Luis; González-Torres, Thais; Montero-Navarro, Antonio; Gallego-Losada, RocíoThe study of work–life balance has undergone significant development in recent years as a result of changes in society and the growing importance of human resources (HR) for companies. Taking into account that human capital represents a critical success factor for businesses, the current context requires the development and implementation of HR management strategies aimed at attracting and retaining the most talented workers in order to obtain the expected results. The objective of this paper is to present an integrated model of work–life balance strategies, including the impacts of the different policies and practices on the retention of talented HR, which can be a basis for further academic developments on this subject, as well as a roadmap for managers. Hence, we will analyze a case study carried out in a multinational company—a leader in the technology and tourism sectors, and importantly dependent on valuable human capital, for which the HR strategy aims to improve the performance of the firm in the medium and long term through analysis, planning, and flexibilityÍtem Managing relationships in the Tourism Supply Chain to overcome epidemic outbreaks: the case of COVID-19 and the hospitality industry in Spain(Elsevier, 2021-02-15) González-Torres, Thais; Rodríguez-Sánchez, José-Luis; Pelechano-Barahona, EvaThe rapid spatial diffusion of the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak has resulted in the total economic disruption of the Tourism Supply Chain (TSC) causing a significant reduction in revenue and creating liquidity issues for all operators. Firms in TSC are linked to each other in complex patterns, leading one risk to another. The purpose of this article is to understand the role of relationship management between hotel chains and their key TSC agents in order to overcome economic disruptions caused by epidemic outbreaks. Among the main contributions of this article are the identification of governments, tour operators, and competitors as the key relationships to be managed by hospitality firms. In addition, key areas for coordination with these actors are explored. Finally, the objectives of relationship management according to the partner are also addressed.Ítem Retirement planning and financial literacy, at the crossroads. Therefore, the traditional configuration of the value chain is frequently replaced by other ones which include the collaborative participation of different agents. Within this context, global value chains, where the value activities are located in different countries, and industrial clusters, which combine competition and cooperation, are attracting a growing attention of both business leaders and scholars in the recent years. Through a bibliometric analysis, this paper disentangles the intellectual and conceptual structure of the research topic of industrial clusters and global value chains. Results show the multidisciplinary character of the topic, including papers published in different areas, such as business, regional studies and world development, as well as its close link with aspects like innovation, regional development, governance or organization. Finally, this study remarks the research lines that could attract more attention in the immediate future.
