ETHIC RESPONSIBILITY OF MNCS IN RELATION TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS
(Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, 2024-06-13) Luarca Criado, Ariadna
Multinational corporations (MNCs) have emerged as major actors in the global economy and international society is becoming increasingly concerned about their impact on the environment. Currently, there exists no global regulatory framework to enforce environmentally responsible behavior by corporations, particularly in developing countries where they operate. All regulatory efforts have been voluntary initiatives led by intergovernmental organizations, with a specific emphasis on international and regional codes of conduct addressing business impact in two key domains: social conditions and the environment. On this basis, a study will be carried out to determine the extent to which the activities of multinationals affect the climate crisis and their strategies for adapting to the new demand for eco-friendly products. This analysis will identify the most commonly used actions and possible regulations. It is hoped that this work will contribute to promoting transparency and ethics in the field of foreign trade, protecting the interests of society.
