Ítem A Scrum-based framework for new product development in the non-software industry(2021-06-18) Cano, Emilio; García-Camús, Juan M; Garzás, Javier; Moguerza, Javier; Sánchez, NoemíScrum is an iterative and incremental development framework that, nowadays, is mainly used for software development. In this work, a Scrum-Based New Product Development (SBNPD) approach is introduced. This new framework stems from the basis of Scrum and incorporates tools suitable for being applied to the design and development of physical products. The proposed approach implies that feedback from early adopters is to be gathered throughout the whole project, thereby driving to validated learning within a co-creation process. A case study illustrates how the SBNPD framework is applied for the development of a physical product within the dental industry.Ítem Bayesian Reliability Analysis for Hardware/Software Systems(2010) Cano, Javier; Moguerza, Javier; Rios Insua, DavidÍtem Bayesian Reliability, Availability and Maintainability Analysis for Hardware Systems Described Through Continuous Time Markov Chains(2010) Cano, Javier; Moguerza, Javier; Rios Insua, DavidÍtem Leadership Styles in Agile Teams: An Analysis Based on Experience(IEEE, 2022-02-11) Gutiérrez, Gema; González de Lena , M. Teresa; Garzas, Javier; Moguerza, JavierThis study covers the lack of literature analyzing the empirical relationship between leadership styles and self-management in agile frameworks. We have conducted a comprehensive survey in agile teams in order to analyze the relation between the self-management concept and the different types of leadership that occur in such teams. To perform the study we have followed the Goleman’s leadership classification and the Marquet’s and Kniberg’s self-management models. Besides the previous concepts, we also investigate how different leadership styles exert alignment and autonomy within agile teams. The statistical evidence of these results has been validated for the sample at hand using statistical hypothesis tests. The results of the study show that respondents’ perception of self-management in their teams remains similar and significant for all leadership patterns. Moreover, we study the effect of the alignment dimension within the concept of self-management, showing that authoritarian leadership styles, when present in agile teams, compensate low levels of autonomy with high levels of alignmentÍtem Self-Managing: An Empirical Study of the Practice in Agile Teams(2019-02-01) GUTIÉRREZ, GEMA; GARZÁS, JAVIER; Gonzalez de Lena, Maria Teresa; Moguerza, JavierSelf-management is of such importance that it constitutes one of the principles of agility. In fact, according to the agile manifesto and scrum principles, agile teams are self-managing and cross functional. Other agile methodologies, such as extreme programming, also include the self-management concept among their basics, as it can have a huge impact on the productivity and motivation of employees and organizations.
