Ítem Elements that can explain the degree of success of ERP Systems Implementation(Business Science Reference, 2009) Pablos Heredero, Carmen deThe implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) is a risky and high cost action, even more when we are dealing with small and medium sized enterprises. Although many studies have shown the importance of paying attention to critical success factors in ERP implementations, there is still a high degree of failures and bad experiences around ERP implementations. Most literature review has shown experiences of success and failure coming from big sized firms. But there is a lack of information of what has happened in the area of small and medium size firms, and for some economies, they are essential. In this book chapter we try to show a model containing the main elements that can better explain the degree of success and of failure in ERP implementations by providing examples mainly affecting to the circumstances of small and medium size firms. In our model we propose 5 main groups of variables affecting final results in ERP implementations, Key words, ERP system, critical success factors, change of processes, managerial support, processes.Ítem Framework for the experiences carried out until now on digital literacy in the Spanish Market(IGI Publishing, 2010-01) Pablos Heredero, Carmen deDigital literacy is a key aspect for the development of the Information Society. Only those countries that understand the importance of the concept would be able to develop active policies that allow citizens to reach higher degrees of social integration and welfare. The present article tries to offer a description on different experiences carried up to now on digital literacy in the Spanish market. The information society must be considered, above all, a society composed by people. For that reason, a social priority for the information society development should be centered on increasing the investments in the acquisition of knowledge. To be included in the digital literacy means to have the technological capabilities that allow a person surviving in the information society. We try to offer real examples for the development of digital literacy in a variety of areas of application: education, social inclusion and firms. For that reason we describe and analyze the contribution of digital literacy to the following Spanish projects, Educared, that tries to promote the spread of Internet for innovation and pedagogical training amongst teachers, parents and students in primary and secondary schools; the Dana Project, that tries to identify good practices to reduce the digital gap based in gender; and Competic, a program that tries to offer good practices for the promotion of information and communication technologies in small and medium size firms.Ítem ICT and the Virtual Organization(Business Science Reference, 2008) Pablos Heredero, Carmen deThe need to be adapted to the changes in the environment, to improve the operational efficiency and to increase the level of satisfaction in customers has promoted the redesigning of the firm¿s organisational processes. Firms tend each time more to externalise activities at a different level by making it possible the appearance of new models of organisation. The analysis of different theories coming from a variety of literature review offers us the opportunity to affirm that being virtual is a characteristic present today in firms at different levels (Shin, 2004). In this paper we offer a definition for the concept of virtual systems. An explanation from the Strategic Management field is also accompanied. Finally this analysis attempts to draw an explanatory model of the capacity of value creation in the virtual systems in comparison with traditional alternatives.
