Ítem A Methodological Assessment Based on a Systematic Review of Circular Economy and Bioenergy Addressed by Education and Communication(MDPI, 2021) Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Romero-Luis, Juan; Gertrudix, ManuelThe circular economy and bioenergy are essential strategies for combatting climate change. In the last 10 years, there has been an increase in research on this subject by different disciplines. Educational and communication approaches may prompt a change to make citizens agents of change in the environmental struggle. Therefore, evaluating their level of methodological formalisation allows the identification of characteristics of the research carried out, and to ascertain where academic studies in these disciplines are aimed. Through a systematic literature review (SLR) applying the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) model, literature from 2009 to 2019 was identified on the Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar, using Publish or Perish software to obtain it. A qualitative and quantitative synthesis of the results was carried out, using cluster analysis and statistic percentages, and comparing column proportions. The analysis of the articles (n = 74) focused on collection techniques, data typology, characteristics of samples and analysis techniques, and showed that the majority were descriptive, oriented toward presenting proposals on educational intervention, with small samples and basic analytical techniques. Despite consistency in the corpus of the research, it is concluded that the studies had a low level of methodological formalisation, which indicates it they were generally related to exploratory research with limited scope, addressing a limited part of the object of study.Ítem Comunicación científica en el espacio digital. Participan muchos profesionales y la labor del investigador y del profesional de la comunicación (el guionista multimedia) es crucial para dar forma al resultado final.Ítem Datasets on the assessment of the scientific publication's corpora in circular economy and bioenergy approached from education and communication(Elsevier, 2023-04-08) Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Romero-Luis, Juan; Gertrudix, Manuel; Wuebben, DanielÍtem Datasets on the assessment of the scientific publication's corpora in circular economy and bioenergy approached from education and communication(Elsevier, 2023) Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Romero-Luis, Juan; Gertrudix, Manuel; Wuebben, DanielThis article presents three datasets that specifically depict scientific literature published from 2009 to 2019 and that represent the overlaps between circular economy, bioenergy, education, and communication. All datasets have been obtained through an exhaustive methodological process based on a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). To collect data, we determined 12 Boolean Operators with words related to circular economy, bioenergy, communication, and education. Then, using the Publish or Perish software, 36 queries were made in the Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. Once the articles were retrieved, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) mode and PRISMA checklist were applied. 74 articles were then manually selected depending on their relationship with the field. Using the DESLOCIS framework, a wide evaluation of the articles was carried out focusing on the design, data collection, and analysis techniques. Thus, the first data set contains the metadata and metrics of the publications. The second data set details the analytical framework used. The third includes the analysis of the publication’s corpora. Together, the data presents opportunities for longitudinal studies and meta-reviews in circular economy and bioenergy areas approached from perspectives of education and communication.Ítem Design and assessment of an experimental model for evaluating the effectiveness of audiovisual products on the circular economy aimed at promoting environmental awareness(Elsevier, 2023) Romero-Luis, Juan; Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Levratto, Valeria; Gertrudix, Manuel; Gertrudis Casado, María del Carmen; Hernandez-Remedios, AlexandraCommunication is crucial to encourage citizens to adopt sustainable habits, but the effectiveness of awarenessraising actions in the last decade has been limited. Therefore, it is essential to invest efforts to understand and improve the effectiveness of environmental awareness actions. This research aims to design an experimental model to evaluate the effectiveness of audiovisual products on ecological transition and circular economy for young people based on a classical narrative model. To this end, the discourses of communication experts obtained through the elaboration of 10 semi-structured interviews are analysed (using the grounded theory method). Subsequently, an evaluation model is designed, validated and tested by conducting a quasi-experiment with 59 high school students who are exposed to two stimuli (A and B) in groups, as well as to a pre-test and posttest, using neurocommunication systems. Firstly, the interview analysis results allow us to identify intermediate objectives, strategies and characteristics of the communicative products that could increase the effectiveness of the communication actions. Secondly, the results of the quasi-experiment allow us to evaluate the experimental model designed to measure the effectiveness of communication products. As a result of the whole process, a model for evaluating the effectiveness of audiovisual products is obtained, which allows the identification of the aspects that increase awareness campaigns’ effectiveness. Despite the limitations of the model, the great potential of using traditional and neuromarketing research techniques to identify aspects that improve the communication of ecological awareness campaigns is determined.Ítem Educating for a sustainable future through the Circular Economy: Citizen involvement and social change(Comunicar, 2022-06-30) Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Romero-Luis, Juan; Gertrudix, Manuel; Borges-Rey, EddyThe climate crisis and the environmental emergency are a sign of uncertainty for the future of the planet. European and national educational directives establish the framework of action and the commitments that must be made by each agent to reach the new sustainable paradigm which is based on circularity. The school, as an institution of social transformation, faces a reproductive framework that feeds the consumer socio-economic structure, covering up the dimension and urgency of the problem. The aim is to identify the forces for change to improve the intervention mechanisms in the educational field in Spain aimed at fostering the involvement and the participation of young people. The qualitative methodology combines discourse analysis using Grounded Theory and prospective analysis using the scenario method. By means of a validated questionnaire, semi-structured interviews and focus groups are conducted with technicians and managers, trainers of trainers, teachers, and researchers (n=53). The discourse of the agents and legislation on education and sustainability are analysed to generate substantive theory. By means of the theorization obtained, drivers and constraints are identified, establishing a probability and impact matrix that allows for the visualization of three possible futures. Los resultados del estudio evidencian la necesidad de integrar metodologías activas y recursos contextualizados que sitúen al centro en el epicentro de la vida social de su entorno cercano.Ítem Recommendations to improve communication effectiveness in social marketing campaigns: Boosting behavior change to foster a circular economy(Taylor & Francis Online, 2022-11-21) Romero-Luis, Juan; Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Gertrudix, Manuel; Gertrudis Casado, María del Carmen; Giardullo, Paolo; Wuebben, DanielThe efficiency of communication campaigns that seek to boost a circular economy, leaving behind the traditional linear economy model, and corresponding behavior change is uncertain, although significant resources are being invested by the European Union and other organizations and institutions around the world. This study aims to identify barriers and enablers faced by the current communication model to generate a series of recommendations, targeted at communication practitioners, that ameliorate communication actions related to social behaviors change. A Grounded Theory process was used to analyze transcripts obtained through focus groups and semi-structured interviews with 22 biotechnology researchers and communication professionals. As a result, the identification of barriers and enablers that prevent or permit different actors to develop sustainable behaviors allowed us to conclude four recommendations aimed at improving the efficacy of communication actions that seek to boost a circular economy and sustainable behavior change: (1) raise awareness among politicians to reduce the barriers that prevent consumers from developing sustainable behavior, (2) involve companies in communication campaign actions as a point of leverage, (3) prioritize long-term interaction over short-term actions, and (4) take advantage of young students (and teachers), who are powerful transmission vectors for promoting sustainable habits among their elders.Ítem Los serious games como estrategia eficiente para la comunicación científica en la pandemia de la Covid-19(2022-07-19) Gertrudis Casado, María del Carmen; Gálvez de la Cuesta, María del Carmen; Romero-Luis, Juan; Gertrudix, ManuelIntroducción: Las necesidades comunicativas derivadas de la pandemia de la Covid-19 han favorecido el desarrollo de iniciativas dedicadas a canalizar la información a la ciudadanía a través de diversidad de acciones. What is the maturity level of circular economy and bioenergy research addressed from education and communication? A systematic literature review and epistemological perspectives(Journal of Cleaner Production, 2021-10-05) Romero-Luis, Juan; Carbonell-Alcocer, Alejandro; Gertrudix, Manuel; Gertrudis-Casado, María del CarmenThe role of education and communication is crucial to achieving the transition toward a circular economy (CE). Achieving cognitive, attitude and behavioural changes in the consumer and general population is a very complex process which requires mature scientific knowledge created by specialists. The current study aims to evaluate the degree of maturity of research on CE and bioenergy carried out from the areas of education and communication which are published in scientific literature between 2009 and 2019. The object of study have been scarcely approached from epistemological and methodological point of view, which is the novelty value of this study. To achieve the goal a systematic literature review (SLR) has been carried out on 74 peer reviewed scientific articles and conference papers. The records have been subjected to a clustering process (qualitative analysis) and a subsequent univariable (frequencies and vertical percentages) and multivariable quantitative analysis (comparison of column proportions). The studies’ theoretical approaches were identified and the levels of formalisation, the predominant objectives and the hypothesis were analysed. In addition, the analysis of the research areas of studies reveals the epistemological process and outcomes of the literature. Several conclusions are drawn such as the scientific literature in this field is limited in scope. Moreover, from an epistemological perspective, descriptive studies are predominant, mainly addressed from the field of engineering, as well as analytical studies, which are mainly undertaken from Social and Legal Sciences. There are two main groups of articles based on their purpose: those which seek to describe, detail or define; and those which are more innovative, which analyse, establish or deconstruct the phenomenon. The results also show that the level of methodological and theoretical formalisation is limited, which indicates that research is in an initial stage. The foregoing results lead authors to conclude that the object of study has a low level of maturity.Ítem What is the maturity level of circular economy and bioenergy research addressed from education and communication?
