dc.description.abstractTHIS THESIS EXAMINES HOW FDI AFFECTS THE FISCAL BALANCE AND STABILITY OF SAHELIAN COUNTRIES, WHERE MATERIAL MINING IS A KEY SECTOR. THE MAIN FINDING IS THAT FDI IS INCREASED WITH A HIGHER MILITARY EXPENDITURE BUT IT HAS A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON THE FISCAL BALANCE OF A REGION, WHICH CAN INFLUENCE REGIONAL SECURITY.
