Trabajo Fin de Grado leído en la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos en el curso académico 2023/2024. Directores/as: David Sarias Rodríguez
This thesis explores the intricate relationship between France and Niger, focusing on the legacy of Françafrique and its impact on Niger's contemporary political and economic landscape. The study traces the historical context from colonial times through decolonization to the present day, emphasizing the enduring influence of French policies and interventions. Through a comprehensive analysis of historical records, political events, and economic data, the research aims to demonstrate how French strategic interests have perpetuated a cycle of dependency and instability in Niger. The thesis also addresses the implications of the 2023 coup, the role of external actors like Russia, and the potential for a proxy conflict in the region.
