Resumen

The New Silk Road, known as The One Belt and One Road Initiative (OBOR) which is a global level strategy where infrastructure development and international cooperation is mainly encouraged, putting into practice in international relations the idea of 'negotiate, build and share together'. The major desire of the Chinese government in launching this initiative is 'An attempt to enhance regional connectivity and embrace a brighter future', with the BRI being one of the grand plans to redesign China's strategic environment, thereby regionally projecting Beijing's economic power, access to energy and mineral supplies, and boosting economic growth in the west of the PRC. Therefore, this paper will explain the origins and evolution of the Silk Road, the regional plans of the Asian country, as well as the social, political, territorial, and economic factors that will affect globally as it is considered as the new commercial strategy of the Asian giant and its position, the perspective of the rest of the nations will be taken into account, especially the US and the EU, since as powers they have announced the launching of new projects, the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and the Trans-African Corridor, both framed within the Global Infrastructure and Investment Partnership, to rival the New Silk Road.
