ANOTHER TIPE OF CLASSROOM, HOSPITAL CLASSROOM APPROACHING TO ANOTHER WAY OF DOING SCHOOL FOR THE HOSPITALISED CHILD

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show the other side of less conventional education: hospital classrooms. The `school¿ in the hospital has a driving effect on the children, integrating their illness therapies with the follow-up of their curricula to stay connected. It can be said that teachers in this setting work together with doctors, nurses, school of origin and families to achieve a good cognitive and emotional development of children who have to remain hospitalised, either short or long term.

Through a review of the literature with multiple articles and books, the importance of this resource is confirmed, as well as the need for training for all teachers, regardless of the area they work in, to provide them with tools and knowledge so that they can support their students in their overall development, as expressed in the Rights of hospitalised children.

With the evolution of these classrooms, their multiple areas of action and benefits, we see the need to continue giving visibility to the B-side of educational plans in hospitals.
