Resumen
For a long time, various media and studies have suggested that the main reason for the high grades of students in private educational centers is due to the ownership of the center. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), together with several experts, believed that the variations in student performance in public and private schools were not only due to the type of management but that there was a new element to consider: the socioeconomic environment. This End of Degree Project tries to examine, applying quantitative and qualitative methods, the concept of school segregation, its causes and its consequences in the educational field. It looks beyond school ownership to also consider the socioeconomic environment. Thus, the research focuses on school segregation that influences school failure and school performance from a socioeconomic point of view. The findings address the research premises and provide reflections on the negative consequences of school segregation in Spain, as well as policies that could reduce school segregation and improve educational outcomes for future generations.
