This Degree Thesis includes a study of the concept of cultural diplomacy and its relationship to soft power within the framework of international relations theories. The main intention is to establish a historical and theoretical framework, that allows a better understanding of both concepts and permits a comparative analysis between liberal and realist theory. It examines how each approach conceptualizes and applies cultural diplomacy as a tool for influencing the international arena without resorting to coercion. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive and updated vision of the role of cultural diplomacy in contemporary foreign policy, highlighting its relevance and effectiveness as a means of international projection and strengthening the image of States.
