This work aimed to thoroughly investigate the hotel sector in the context of opportunities as a real estate investment. The analysis is structured into five main sections. The first section provides an introduction with the study's objectives and hypothesis, highlighting the importance of the hotel sector in the global economy, and more specifically, its role in the Spanish economy, where it significantly contributes to the GDP.
The second section covers the theoretical framework, offering a definition and analysis of the hotel sector, discussing topics such as its evolution, main operational structures, and key market players. Other topics analyzed include current trends, such as new forms of accommodation (flexliving and coliving).
More specifically, important hotel transactions in Spain are examined, with a special focus on the case study detailing the Mandarin Oriental transaction in Barcelona. This section also includes interviews with industry professionals and an analysis of their responses.
Finally, various strategic recommendations are offered to optimize investments in the hotel sector, highlighting the potential of the real estate landscape both nationally and internationally, and the significance that hotel investment can gain in the future.
