Resumen
The integration of cinema into foreign language education has gained attention due to its potential to enhance linguistic and cultural competencies. This End of Degree project will explore the multifaceted benefits of employing cinema as a pedagogical tool in language instruction. Firstly, cinema provides authentic linguistic input, exposing learners to natural speech patterns, colloquial expressions, and diverse accents, thereby improving listening comprehension and pronunciation. Secondly, the visual context of films aids in the comprehension of language use in real-life scenarios, enhancing vocabulary acquisition and contextual understanding. Additionally, films offer cultural immersion, presenting social norms, traditions, and cultural nuances that textbooks often overlook, thereby fostering intercultural competence. The emotional engagement and narrative structures of movies also enhance memory retention and motivation, making language learning more enjoyable and effective. This project outlines the theoretical foundations and practical applications of using cinema to teach English in Primary Education supported by empirical studies and pedagogical frameworks, demonstrating how this medium can be an invaluable asset in the contemporary language classroom.
