This thesis explores the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, highlighting its origins, evolution, and cultural significance. It delves into the lunar calendar, the Metonic cycle, and the Chinese zodiac, explaining their roles in determining the festival's date. Traditional celebrations such as New Year's Eve dinners, lion and dragon dances, and the red envelope ritual are analyzed, along with the symbolism of colors and decorations. The study also discusses the Lantern Festival, family protocols, and the global impact of Chinese New Year, showcasing its importance in promoting cultural understanding and diversity worldwide.
