Depopulation is a reality that affects a large part of the Spanish territory. It is not a new phenomenon. It began in the second half of the 20th century, and has gradually advanced until today, becoming a complex problem with a very difficult solution. To understand and interpret this reality, this work follows the approach of the economic theory of the Austrian School, which is based on the study of human action. In this project I have set three main objectives. The first has been trying to understand the migration process that occurred in the sixties in Spain. The second objective is to know how many Spanish municipalities are currently at risk of depopulation. The last objective is to analyze the policies of the Spanish government and those of the European Union.
