Abstract

Civic education is fundamental in any democratic society as it prepares students, from childhood onwards, to be active and responsible citizens. It also strengthens democratic principles and promotes peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. In Spain, this issue has always been cause of controversy. This Final Degree Project compares the approaches, in primary education, of civic education in the LOMCE and the LOMLOE, educational laws promoted by two opposing political parties. In addition, is developed a proposal of educational intervention implemented in the fifth year of primary education, which seeks, through active and participatory methodologies, to promote the comprehensive development of students in the field of citizenship. This project seeks to transmit knowledge about the rights and responsibilities of individuals and to promote democratic values and skills for life in society.
