dc.description.sponsorshipA mixed integer linear optimization (MILO) model is presented for providing a cooperative system between Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) who manage the airspace for aircraft conflict detection and resolution. The model considers the main features of the object modeling of an important, crucial extension so named Coordinated Velocity and Altitude Changes (CVAC) of the VAC model that we have presented elsewhere. It allows the aircraft to ascend or descend one or more altitude levels. The new model is so tight that a state-of-the-art MILO solver provides the solution in a very affordable computing time even for large-scale instances. It is worth to pointing out that only in a few pilot cases of the testbed, the software engine needs to use the branch-and-cut phase of the solver.es
