Resumen
In the context of the 20th and 21st centuries’ stage production, we identified two important aspects for the study of the acceptance of the classical text and its mise-ensens.
On the one hand, the innovative principles of Brecht and his epic theatre, which creates “those thoughts and feelings that play a role in changing society itself” (35), and on the other hand, the thesis of the existence of a postdramatic theatre, also called post-Brechtian, based on the notion of Hans-Thies Lehmann; a “dramatic organism” that is still “present” as a “two-way flourishing memory”, “which refers to the fact that some culture or artistic practice has emerged from the previously unquestionable horizon of modernity”
Descripción
The staging of a classic embodies an accumulation of productive relationships that concern not only the convention of the strictly theatrical; the text, the border positions of the staging, the cast’s dramatic creation, the director’s stage plan as a cohesive grid of geometric and semiotic vectors, but also absorbs from other sources such as music, painting, dance,
philosophy, new technologies, performance, architecture, sociology, psychology or design. Although in this sense, it is worth mentioning that any overlapping layers in the staging must play a functional role, inherent to the materialisation of the director’s ideological-aesthetic argument based not on the visual coherence, but in the discourse one.
