Abstract

The lockdown era has seen a boom in publicly available cultural content through the internet with an exponentially increasing consumption of online culture. Performing arts and live concerts underwent the largest commercial stagnation in recent history with a drastic paralysis of artistic activity, thus affecting live entertainment production and shows on a global scale. Our reaction ability made way for new cultural habits emerging as a quick, painless cure for isolation. Presentiality was replaced by virtuality, and the shared seats within theater’s social space were relocated to an individual, foreign and imprecise dimension. May such circumstances have encouraged a leap towards theater’s virtual technification as an innovative and technological appropriation? Is the traditional in-person model being transgressed, thus leading theater towards a virtual typology as an emerging format for scene construction?
