In 1999, abnormal mortalities of cockle (Cerastoderma edule) were reported in Galicia (NW Spain). We found several potentially pathogenic organisms and cellular disorders, including neoplasic cells with a strong lysosomic activity, which could be associated with the reported cockle mortalities.es
